Just curious the pay ranges for Amtrak. It's something I can't seem to find anywhere. Around how much do conductors, assistant conductors, coach/sleeping car attendants make?
Anyone know?

I could not begin to start throwing out numbers...But employees seem to be very adament about how seniority is everything to them because of pay, work schedules, fear of being laid off, etc.

Seniority is everything because until you get some, you're working the shit jobs-plainly stated.
Guess who's going to dogcatch that 12 hour late train at 2 AM at Rattlesnake Gulch? Not the guy at the top of the list. You might (no, WILL) be working a 11PM train only to turn around and put on your smiling face for the 4 AM departure. Guess you have to learn to sleep standing up. Trains magazine stated: "Home for Christmas? It hurts less if you don't plan on it." This goes on for YEARS.
It's amazing how you don't realize how good something is until you don't have it Simple things like time with your family go out the window.

OK, now that my rant is over, you may want to check with the appropriate union. Or call Amtrak HR.

I doubt if you will find information regarding Rates of Pay for employees covered by Agreement in the public domain, Mr. Tabern. Such are an integral part of a labor agreement and accordingly are considered proprietary and not subject to public review.
Regarding non-Agreement employees, well...you know the rules on that....isn't your own salary with the TV station you are with "private"?
However, I do believe there is public disclosure of the "top dawgs' remuneration, having read somewhere Mr. Gunn was at about $250K annum.

Being that Amtrak is a quasi-government corporation that receives most of its funding from taxpayers, i think employee salaries should be public knowledge, just like it is for all federal govt employees (including myself).

How would a "hitch" in the Armed Forces sound, JONATHON? Evidently, college is not part of your game plan at this time, but I think it a safe assumption that entry level in the service will open many more opportunities to you (including $$$ for college if that is presently an issue) than would any entry-level position Amtrak is prepared to offer a HS Grad.
Oh well, I guess there are always Coaches that need to be cleaned out on third trick. Safe assumption they are usually hiring for that.
