I got into Los Angeles 5:30 in the mornig on Monday, even thought I left Seattle on Saturday!
Not five minutes after I stepped off the Train the Sun rose and it was daylight, The Train going had no Parlour and no Secong Sight Seer to replace it, but we did have 3 Locomotives for some reson, The returning Train was the Typical Starlight consist, completewith a Parlour, it was a fun trip, I went to Canada on The Amtrak Cascades, and even road The Sky Train while I was there!
The Trip Report is on it's way, but until its done, heres some pictures from the trip, oh and even though there not ready now, I did take photos of the Seattle Monorail, I photographed it when it burned, and I Photographed it when it crashed, those pictures will be ready soon, but here some now!

Those are some great photos, Jonathan. You really have the artists eye. What kind of camera do you use ?
I will be taking the Coast Starlight myself next week from LAX to EUG. Sure hope they have the parlour car. I know that there is wireless Internet available at the Oakland station, so I will try to post a brief report from the train when we stop.

For some reason my post didn't go through so I am trying again. If the first one shows up I appologize to all for a repeat. Jonathon, your pictures are great. But then we always expect you to deliver the best. I think some day in the future we will be seeing pictures by the nationally known photographer, Jonathon Ortez. My favorite is the one of the city at night.

As one photographer to another, great images! Your eye for composition is improving tremendously. I especially like the night scene from the top of the Space Needle and the monochrome depot interior shot.

Thanx for the Complaments every one! The shot of the Depot is of King Street Station, Thats The Restoration of The roof is being done, there planing to restore the entire roof of the Station, They partally took down some of the fake roof and fake walls, The real ones are behind them

The Sky Train is part of Vancouver's mass transit system......equivalent to the Chicago 'el'. There is a Sky Train station across a park from the front door of the Vancouver train station.

Jonathan - I see from the EXIF files on your photos that you use a Canon Digital Rebel XT. That is a great camera, and you can see it in the picture quality, and the shots in low light conditions. I would use an XT myself if I didn't mind the size and weight. I am still trying to perfect a technique for taking pictures through train windows. On my CS trip next week I am going to try using a rubber lens hood, which can be pressed up against the windows to eliminate reflections.

Thanks about the Sky Train; I remember it now; I was in the lovely old train station from where it leaves, in fact, and also by another station. I just didn't know it was called Sky Train!

Thats what I was doing most of the time, you probly should'nt try zooming through them though, Zooming distorts the image through those Superliner windows
