I don't know where there is a map but I can probably describe it pretty well and answer some of your specific questions or concerns. If you tell me how are you coming in, where is it you'll want to go, and what else exactly you want to know, I'll be happy to provide what info I can. The one thing I don't know too much about is NJ Transit, but I take Amtrak to NYC often, have taken the LIRR a fair amount in times past, and know the station and its location in NYC fairly well.

genny: It's not a website, but the new Amtrak time table has a layout of the different levels, but I think it could have included a bit more detailed info. I'm a native New Yorker and everytime I'm in that station I get disoriented with the direction of the train(Hudson or East river tunnel). I get my bearings with 8th Ave and 7th Ave exits.

A few years back, I seem to recall there was a map of Penn Station in Trains magazine, but I sure can't remember what year or what issue it was........

I found the following website while researching a possible trip not too long ago. I don't know if it will help...

Finding the Amtrak tracks is fairly easy you just have to remember that the station is in the basement of Madison Square Garden from the 7th ave and go through the office building plaza and walk down the stairs and cross the taxi way, and the amtrak ticket booth and tracks are straight ahead. The 8th ave side has two doors and go straight down the stairs. Negotiating the gates for the LIRR and NJ Transit can get you discombaulated.
