It was a pretty good segment about how we need to double the annual Amtrak expenditure.

NBC News aired a segment on "the vanishing railroad this evening April 29. Possibly the material will become available at their website
While there were good clips from the cab of an Acela on the "East End" and a short interview with Mr. Kummant, there was really nothing new for any regular participant here. There was a recitation of the "ridership up revenue up' situation, but no $$$ to really expand the system.
There was also a short clip with Mr. Capon of NARP. I'll readilly acknowledge that "he looks the part" of a skilled lobbyist.
While nothing really there "for us", it was a good, informative segment for "John Q".

Yes, I saw that on NBC last night -- it was a pretty good clip with nothing too outrageous said.

Well? I do not have a video capability, but as memory serves, and thanks to my wife catching it, the reporter, just as he and Mr. K entered an Acela trainset, mentioned the word "could." Now again, I'm sorry for missing the phasing here, but as I and my wife discussed this, "could" is a word we should not be using.
Passenger rail service or Amtrak "will" or "must" becoming a powerful 21st Century force in determining the future of this nation's freedom to travel choices. The use of any words, except the most positive, direct and forceful with regard to the discussion of passenger rail service are so 20th Century that they must be religated to the historical dust bin.
