I saw this report filed by Associated Press writer, Michael Tarm, today and thought I would pass it along, since Amtrak is mentioned several times.
Apparently several freight lines are concerned that they are lacking sufficient track (really??)in order to complete their mission of transporting goods and by 2035 things will be pretty much in the toilet.
I'm wondering how they determined the magic year of 2035 and why they just now noticed they've only got single track in places they where need double/triple? Who is running these so-called businesses, anyway?
My conclusion, after reading the article, is that the prevailing business philosophy is: if one whines enough, perhaps Uncle Sam will rain a small shower of $$$ on you, because, after all, you don't want to spend your own $$$. Your own $$$ are for squandering on foolishness.
Anyway, looks like those Amtrak sidetrack delays aren't going to decrease anytime soon.
