Got confused by the SD Transit site. I want to take the Surfliner LAX to Oceanside and then get to 121 Brooks (it's Ocean's Eleven Casino for the spouse to play poker).
Looks like we need to leave the Amtrak station and go to the Oceanside Transit Center. Google maps says the transit center is at 311 Tremont, just south of the Amtrak station. But the SD Transit site says go NW to the transit center (no address given) to catch a bus called the Breeze, #303.
Anyone know where that transit center really is?

Hi Vicki---I've been wondering where you've been lately.
I don't know if my answer will help out at all, but for what it's worth.......if you've never been to the Oceanside Amtrak station before, it's a fairly large transit center. In addition to Amtrak and Metrolink, there is a Burger King, the Sprinter line, and a huge transit area (buses). I don't know if they all have the same address or not, but everything comes together right there in one location. Every time I've been there, I've seen "Breeze" buses coming and going.
Probably not the answer you're looking for, but maybe it helps a little bit. I'm 99% certain that your bus will come into that transit center, but maybe someone else will know for sure. Once you step off the train, it's fairly easy to spot the bus stop area.

Thanks Smitty. I have been indulging my other transportation passion - cruised round trip LA-Panama Canal.
Seems odd that SD Transit wants me to go 0.2 miles to a Transit Center that sure seems to be right at the Amtrak station.
Perhaps a SD area member will chime in here.

You can easily walk from the Surfliner to the Busses in less than five minutes. There are a number of bus bays and a sign on each one with the route number. There is also an information booth if you can't find the bay for 303.
Try gonctd.com for a diagram. That's the website for the North Country Transit District that operates the busses (called Breeze), the Sprinter and the Coaster.

Thanks Railrev. I finally found the actual address for the transit center on the transit district website. Although the address is different than the Amtrak address it is clearly nearby. Perhaps like LAX? The buses are essentially at the same building as the trains but at one far end.
Should work out fine if we decide to do this.

Not yet. I am inclined to go down via car a day early for our cruise to let him play poker. But his enthusiasm seems to have waned. After all, he can play poker on the cruise ship. We sail on December 7th, for Hawaii ironically.

Oooooohhhh.....Hawaii. I'm jealous. A good friend of mine is over there right now on Kauai. She just got back from a canoe trip and said it was one of the best things she's ever done. They stopped at a place where you could get out and swim under a waterfall.
When your ship stops at Maui, make sure you visit Kimo's on Front Street in Lahaina for excellent food and the BEST Hula Pie you've ever had. They are easy to find----2nd floor next to Cheeseburger In Paradise. Also on Front Street in Lahaina is Longhi's---excellent, excellent food. They have a great fish called Opakapaka that is out of this world when cooked "Longhi's Style". Either one of those restaurants and you can't go wrong.

Most of the transit bus bays are located just northeast of where the train stops behind the big parking structure. It's a pretty straight forward layout and you shouldn't have any problems.
