At risk of boring you, I took the TX Eagle, #22, from San Antonio to Austin this morning. We left on time and arrived quite a bit early. 3 coaches, sight seer lounge, diner, 1 sleeper, transition dorm, locomotive. Light load in coaches, but I counted about 75 boarding in Austin. This is supposed to be #422 also, right? I don't understand where that through sleeper is....seems like there should be another sleeper in that consist. The coaches had been cleaned well.

I've been Amtraking quite a bit lately to get me where I'm going and it's been great. My next trip will be Austin to Dallas and back in January (besides monthly returns from San Antonio).

They started cutting the Sleeper in at the head end of the train. So basically they just switch the cars in and out at San Antonio without switching the full consist, like if a car was bad ordered kind of thing.
