Hey, the story here is that Amtrak's Pere Marquette
took 15 hours to get from Chicago to Grand Rapids,MI
due to one of our lovely Mid-West blizzards. I believe this trip usually takes 3 hours or so. They were stuck or whatever several times and one guy even made a jump for it just north of Holland MI. (the train was not moving) and swam through drifts to a local fast food joint. I don't know how to link but you can access any local paper here i.e. Grand Rapids Press or Holland Sentinel, for the lowdown. Geez, crazy.

You would think that someone at CSX or The State of Michigan would have one or more of these: Russell snow plow, from the Mid Continent Railway Museum.

Or a Rotary unit: Oregon Short Line #762, from the same source.

After reading the comments on the story in the Grand Rapids Press I wondered about the person who will never travel Amtrak again. Would he/she rather fly and spend several nights on the floor of the airport waiting for a cancelled flight.? Will they fly again. I can never understand why people put up with so much from the airlines and complain about every little thing about the trains.
