Does anyone know if there are any hotels within easy walking distance of the Fort Lauderdale station?
Thanks.

A Google request for:Hotels near Ft. Lauderdale Amtrak Station brought up a Days Inn 0.37 miles from the station; don't know whether that's "walking" distance for you and what ever luggage you may be carrying.
Best regards,
Rodger

There are at least two hotels at Deerfield Beach, within sight to the East of the Amtrak/Tri Rail station along Hillsboro Blvd.

Not sure of what national chain, if any, they are part of.

The Ft. Lauderdale station is on Broward Boulevard, not at all in the best area of town. The hotels adjacent to the Deerfield Beach station that Mr. Norman mentions would be a better bet, as would the hotel across the street from the Miami Airport Tri-Rail station (it's a Hilton, IIRC).

Actually the hotel across from Miami Tri- Rail station is the Sheraton River House.

It's a Wyndham:

Been there done that with Mr. Resor; well the restaurant.

Ever seen so much "jabberwokky' for just another plain old "take it or leave it" hotel restaurant?

Yes, I had forgotten that Wyndham had taken over the former Sheraton River House.

Indeed Mr. Chatter, these major brand hotels have a way of changing colors - and often with little notice to the public.

There is a hotel property located to the East of the Pittsburgh airport (Montour Ridge Rd & I-376) at which "I always stay" when traveling through Pittsburgh by auto. This property had always been a Marriott...well until one year.

I looked at Marriott's website for the hotel...gone...I phoned..."we have no property at that location". "Well, it didn't just vanish into thin air, who runs it?" "I wouldn't know, sir" (click). Figuring a brand change, I tried other major brands - without success. Finally, I gave up and stayed at a Radisson on Greenfield Rd - so hard to find that I needed a desk clerk to "talk me in'. But before that I had driven by the one time Marriott property (locked in with a guaranteed reservation at Radisson) and lo and behold it is a Wyndham. That was one major brand I had simply forgotten.

Why can't these major brands simply say "that hotel is no longer with us but now is managed by (in this case) Wyndham..." I think they could keep a lot of goodwill - and with all these "point chasers" out there, could still have many choosing to stay with them at another location.

But that property is now AGAIN a Marriott - and nicely redecorated.

Just noticed for the first time last night that the former Sheraton in downtown Lexington, KY is now a Hilton.

One hotel not far from my house was a Sheraton when I moved in 15 years ago, then was a Hilton, and is now a Holiday Inn "Crowne Plaza" (their upscale brand). Investors build the hotel, then look for a chain that will manage it on the most lucrative terms. One chain gets disillusioned and wants to quit, the investors just find another to manage the property.
