Got off #2 last night in San Antonio. Was a very, I would say interesting, trip. We boarded in El Paso, and departed only 8 minutes late. Our diner failed on us barely an hour into the trip. The a/c system blew out and due to the FDA regulations, they can't cook in the galley when temperatures are reaching 120 degrees. This was a SOLD OUT train, so this grew to be a very major problem. Dinner composed of fried chicken (not from KFC) that was brought on in Del Rio. Lounge car was soon running out of various items and the never again crowd began to form. We were on-time or early at every station (meeting no train from El Paso all the way to Del Rio) except for San Antonio, where we sat in Hondo, TX for an hour and a half while a freight train in front of us was inspected due to them going into emergency on the single track main. Overall decent trip despite the circumstances, currently in San Marcos for orientation Thursday-Friday. Next segment will be the return trip, this time from San Marcos to El Paso departing Friday night.
