This is what happens when ex-CEO's of corrupt companies are elected to run governments:

Yep, the clock is ticking - for another thirty three months. Who knows, "we the people" of Florida could re-elect him for another term. If anyone holds that this development will rise to the level of having Gov. Scott removed from office, I believe such thought is mistaken.

Let us keep things in perspective; HSR is hardly that burning an issue to the public at large. But oh well, unlike Illinois, Florida does have term limits.

The natives are (very) restless:

But so are these natives;

Both links hold equal credibility with me - and I for one, ascribe to neither.

But this topic illustrates why in all likelihood a far greater percentage of the participants here line up at the Firehouse on "that Tuesday in November" than does the eligible population as a whole.

I vote at a Baptist church nearby, thereby dispelling all rumors to the effect that I never have anything to do with organized religion.

Just remember, all those governors and Congresspeople were elected by American citizens just like you.

There was an "impeach Obama" Web site up the day after the election in 2008.

There are also people who believe the World Trade Center was destroyed by the US air force.

Some people need to get a life.

What's the difference no matter what the numbers are the final cost of any goverment project will be millions over the initial figures.

One of my favorite signs I saw at an anti-war march in the 70's was "Impeach Cambodia or Something?". With the current mood of the country, there might even be pre-election groups promoting impeaching whoever wins.

Not always. Quite a few of the DART (Dallas) contracts came in under the estimate.

Favorite protest sign (at a TEA party rally); Keep the government out of my Medicare!

And Ocala Mike: when you vote do the church bells klang? LOL

The Times has a solid lead editorial appearing today regarding where the rescinded HSR funds ought to be allocated. Three guesses and the first two don't count (hint; NEC):

Be sure to review the Reader's Comments, some, be they favorable or otherwise to rail passenger interests, appear quite thoughtful.

My personal opinion is that we have already sunk enough money into the NEC. If we are going to do anything else there, it should be major, such as a completely new line across Baltimore or replacing the drawbridges with high level bridges on a, where appropriate, striaghter alignment. Anything else is simply makeup on the pig.

Let's build California post haste so that people can see ane experience what a real high speed railroad should be like - that is, if we can keep the NIMBY's and the make it cheaper regardless of how it downgrades the system people from prevailing.
