I've got close to 60,000 points and I've been looking at how to get the best trip out of them. Would it be better to try to put something together myself online or give the nice lady at Amtrak and tell her of my plans and her put something together?

Joe, you can't do sleeper bookings with AGR points online; you have to call the nice lady in the Guest Rewards department to do that.
But you can use AmSnag to see what's available when in the sleepers, then use the info to work with the nice lady.
She indeed is nice, says my wife (who does the phone bookings) and also is quite helpful.
Even if she's sometimes a guy.

I spoke with the nice lady just last week to book the trip I am on currently. When booking a roomette aboard the Capitol Limited she even asked me if it would be a problem if my assigned room were upstairs.
