I'm going to try to do this right this time!!

I am looking for safe, clean, comfortable lodging near the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on the night of May 15th in the $150 range.

Suggestions appreciated!

If you prefer something smaller and off the beaten path, yet only 1 block from the St. Charles streetcar, easy walking distance from the D-Day museum, and less than a mile from the Amtrak Station, let me recommend my favored haunt, the Fairchild House Bed & Breakfast.

Please note: If stairs are an issue request a ground floor room; there is no elevator.

New Orleans is one of our favorite cities. Hope you can return for a longer visit some time. But, for a quick overnight, our favorite moderately priced hotel chain is Drury Inn and Suites. It's primarily a mid-west, mid-south chain but there is a Drury Inn - New Orleans less than half a mile from the station. While we have not stayed at that location, our other stays have been consistently very good (better than comparable Marriott/Holiday Inn lodging).

If I recall correctly, the taxis have a flat rate from the station for any location within the immediate downtown area.
