I noticed, on the back cover of the summer issue of "Clasic Trains", an ad for the "Rocky Mountain Express". This is an IMAX presentation that is showing, or will be showing, at various IMAX theaters in the US and Canada. I believe it is about the Canadian transcontinental railroad.
Hopefully, with time, the list will expand to many more IMAX facilities throughout the country.
If anyone gets a chance to see "Rocky Mountain Express", please report back and let us know what you thought of the presentation. If it is halfway is good as other IMAX films, it should be well worthwhile.

My nephew lives in Victoria, BC. He and his family have seen it three times and love it. And they're not even railfans.

Sounds like it will really be enjoyable, Palmland, if your nephew has seen it three times.
Too bad there isn't a showing closer to your home in So. Carolina. Same here in Northern Calif. I may be able to see it in either Seattle or Vancouver, BC, this summer.

Yes Richard, steam trains in the Canadian Rockies aren't too big a draw down here. A couple times a year we drive up to the northeast and stopover in Richmond. Our plan is to catch it there.
I see it is also showing in Cincinnati at the Museum Center. What a perfect place to see it as the museum is in my all time favorite train station - Cincinnati Union Terminal. Amtrak just occupies a tiny corner of it now, but extremely well done. Too bad 50/51 call in the middle of the night, well outside my comfort zone.
