I have learned that Randolph R. Resor, who posted at this site under the handle 'rresor', passed away on All Saints Day, November 1.
I knew Randy 'face to face' since 2001. He knew several contemporaries of mine from my railroad industry career, and our last meet up occurred June 2011 at Frontera Grill here in Chicago. I knew Randy had been confronting several health issues of late.

Mr. Resor and his alter ego NellieBly always brought the voice of experience to these forums. His contributions were always knowledgeable and reflected his years of service in the railroad industry. My repects to any family or friends that may be reading this forum.

Quite by chance I shared a seat with a view (upstairs in a dome) on an excursion to Asheville, NC with Mr. Resor in October 2010 and afterwards gave him a ride back to his B&B in Salisbury, NC. He was returning home to the northeast on the Carolinian the following morning.
Also ran into him on a Norfolk Southern 21st Century Steam one-way trip from Winston-Salem, NC to Roanoke, VA in 2012.
He was a knowledgeable voice of reason in an era where there is too little of that. He enjoyed riding trains and was always on the lookout for the opportunity to pick up some rare mileage outside the regular Amtrak system.

Sad news. He was the same age as myself. My condolences to Mr. Resor's family.

Mr. Harris, possibly the family will choose to have a Legacy Com page, and further choose to disclose more.
But it seemed the later years, knowing Randy if it wasn't this health issue, it was that. I visited him once at his home in Merchantville, NJ and he was hooked up to an IV, another time in Wash (now defunct Marketplace Inn - outdoor 'tables with a view' of the RF&P) in a walking shoe and a cane, and our final visit in River North (Frontera Grill) with a cane.
To the extent he was at liberty to share his knowledge with the railfan community, we can all be grateful for that.
Obviously I knew Randy better than most here, but anytime after a visit with him, my knowledge of railroad industry affaire was enhanced.

We had an email exchange on a subject a few years back, and it was obvious that he was an insider and suspected me of being one on the civil/track side.
Very concerning when someone leaves us too young.
Two others in the industry also left us unexpectedly recently. Larry Daniels and Chris Sheppard back in mid-October on BART's tracks.

Very sorry to hear this sad news, especially at such a young age and coming so soon after the loss of both pismo bum and delvyrails.
He was a salient and incisive poster and he will be missed. I'm sure our thoughts will be with his family at this time.
