Well, of course anyone here knows the answer to that - never have, never will.
However, to the East of Michigan City by which all Michigan trains other than the Pere Marquette not only pass, but pass under, is a coaling tower left over from Michigan Central steam days.
Surely, this has got to be the only coaling tower standing on Amtrak property.

Gilbert, There used to be one just north of New Haven, CT on the line up to Springfield, MA Haven't looked for it for awhile, so I can't confirm that it's still there.

Thank you for locating that photo, Mr. Mayo. I will confirm that Augusta is to the East of Amtrak end of track.
Mr. Black, comment noted; at one time there were elaborate coaling and watering facilities at Midway, CT, but I woluld guess all are long gone as that area is now an MofW base.

How will they coal & water the Big Boy 4014, from Pomona to Cheyenne? Any water towers still left along the route?

Unless it was torn down recently, this C&O Coal Tower is still on the route of the Cardinal in Thurmond, WV
Now fantasyland would be sitting in one of Iowa Pacific's observation cars on the rear of the Cardinal while NKP 765 pauses to take on coal at the coal tower restored by the NPS as part of their preservation efforts for the town.

SP for many years had a water tank leftover from Steam at Gaviota.
BNSF used to have a water tower at Hamburg, IA, but it appears to be gone now looking at Google maps image view
