The other day I went to the VIA Rail website to get a timetable for the Toronoto-Vancouver "Canadian" train. I also wanted to see if there was anything new in the Canadian sleeping car options.

After trying several times, I could not figure out how to get sleeping car information. I finally got it: 1) click "Explore Your Destination" 2) "Rockies and Pacific" 3) Toronto-Vancouver (The Canadian) 4) "Classes and Train Cars" 5) "Sleeper Plus". The information under "Sleeper Plus" was limited and sketchy.

Then I tried to get Eastbound and Westbound timetables for the Canadian. After step 3, above, I clicked on "Schedules", then "Display" & could not find the timetable. Then I tried to click on the yellow bar...I got the Westbound Schedule out of Toronto. What about Eastbound out of Vancouver? I finally found a "Reverse" button to click and got the Eastbound schedule.

I think there should be fields or icons, on their home page, for sleeping accomodations and timetables for their trains. I think Amtrak does a better job at this.

It seems like whenever a browser or website is updated, it's always going to be worse than what they had, before.

Sorry for being such a grouch. I need a double mocha, from Starbucks, to get me in a better mood

Forget that, Mr. Palmland.

Try a couple of glasses of a Kistler, Durell Vineyard, 2012, Chardonnay; '12's are to be a 'very special' vintage from Napa Valley.

Starbucks? who needs that bilgewater. Last one of those I was in was maybe four years ago in Atlanta simply to buy a Times (I've since changed hotels there to one that has a Gift Shop that carries both The Times and Journal). The counter help (what do they call 'em; Baristas?) 'couldn't believe it' when I simply paid for my Times, and walked out without any of their 'delicacies'.

I've never tried Kistler or Durell. I will be on the lookout. Are they separate vineyards or one of the same? I see Kistler vineyards are near my home town of Sebastopol, here in Sonoma County.

I recently discovered a very good, inexpensive chardonnay by Duckhorn. Duckhorn wines are kind of expensive but they make an off-label or generic chardonnay under the "Decoy" brand. They have one for around $11 and it's excellent...even with a screw-on (non cork) stopper. I don't know, however, if Decoy wines are widely distributed.
