If anyone is planning an Amtrak trip in 2022, please consider purchasing a railroad route guide from the Midwest Rail Rangers. Amtrak stopped several years ago putting the nice route guides in the bedrooms, roomettes, and at coach seats. People really can't enjoy learning about what is out their windows anymore. We carry route guides for the Midwest regional trains and most of the western long distance trains and even the Northeast Corridor.

Books, E-Books, and MP3 Podcasts Available

(In full disclosure, I am President of the Midwest Rail Rangers, but do not personally benefit in any way what-so-ever from the sales of the route guidebooks. I am only posting this because there has been interest in route guide books. 100 percent of the sales goes towards our 501(c)(3) non-profit which does onboard educational programs on various trains, including 2x a month on the South Shore Line between Chicago and South Bend)

Thinking of purchasing one for the California Zephyr - riding in just over 3 weeks. For those looking to buy a book and plan a ride for the summer - Amtrak actually has a decent BOGO sale going on system wide at the moment.
