The -3C means it is the third generation of F40PH and C refers to the wheel axle configuration. The Coaster has F40PHM-2C which are 2nd Class F40PH and MK Rebuits with "C" Axle Configuration.

Hope this Clarifies the situation

What about the Amtrak F40PH's- Can they be rebuilt into similar units (ie -3)0
