What were you guys up to on railroad.net? Montclair 6?

Anything new on that front? It looks like the wiring is just about complete above the new switches at Roseville Ave.

According to some posts over on http://www.nj.com/forums/transit the plans for Montclair State station include a center island platform, which is not the most user-friendly configuration with an at-grade alignmnet (as Dover station on the Morristown/Boonton lines proves) but is most likely cheaper to build (which I don't see, myself, especially with the necessity of re-aligning the track). Extra expense would come from (if it becomes necessary) either tunneling under the track or building a bridge to the new platform, i.e. if walking across the track (as with Dover) is viewed as unacceptable.

Bay Street's configuration did surprise me, though; I had heard rumors in the past that this station was the one to get an island platform, if any on this line. Also, continuing to call this station "Bay Street" when it's clearly nowhere near Bay Street confuses me (Bloomfield Avenue would be a better name, or Pine Street, the street it's actually on).

Latest reports have Comet V cars (some of the order) at the MMC right now. Any word on when enough will arrive to eliminate all excuses over delaying the Connection's opening...?

I have a feeling that as soon as word gets out that seats are availible on NJT trains into/out of New York during rush hour more people will ride and crowd the place up again.

As far as excuses go, the contractors at Allied Junction seem to be working full steam ahead. Interesting.

The key is longer trains. If a nine car train can stop at Peapack (2 cars long), or Gilette (3 cars long) I can see no reason why a twelve car train (or longer) can not stop at Summit, Brick Church, or Princeton Junction. The key is to have crew make good announcements.
