RAMSEY - The state transportation commissioner gave the go-ahead Friday to NJ Transit's plans for a $25 million regional train station and five-story parking garage on 2.9 acres at the base of Island Road near Route 17 south.
Preliminary plans call for construction to begin in October, with completion targeted for March 2004.
The decision comes after 10 months of lobbying by borough officials to have the station built across the highway in Mahwah.
Maybe NYS can build something simmilar where the Pascack Valley Line passes over the NY Thruway in Nanuet.
