Where can I find world rail revenues on the net?

I don't think you can find such information on the internet, but some of it is available in "Jane's World Railways", a book which is issued every other year at several hundred dollars a copy. Some nations consider such information a "state secret" and do not furnish it to Jane's. Jane's Publications does have a website (they publish Jane's World Aircraft and Jane's Fighting Ships as well).

Thanks Thirdrail. I do not need a current "Jane's" at several hundred dollars - but will look for a previous edition.

Have you ever tried to take a look at the website of UIC - the international railroad association in Paris,France ? - their website is www.uic.asso.fr - perhaps they offer some statistics or can give you more details -

The UIC is to Europe what the AAR is to North America, the railway association that sets standards for interchangability of equipment, revenues, information, etc. That still leaves Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America. Since most national systems report revenues in their own currency, how would one get a consolidated figure? Exchange rates are not stable throughout the year, so a yen in April may have a different exchange rate to the dollar than one earned in October, for example.
