Recently the rail line through the Carrizo has reopened after being shut down, due to two tunnel fires in the Carrizo Gorge.
fright is hauled by the Carrizo Gorge Railway. Sand is picked up near Octotio Wells
and hauled to Campo. Recently 19 cars of sand
were brought to Campo from Octotio wells. To
ex-Southern Pacific and Cotton Belt GP-40, diesel engines are used.
Plans are in the works for excursions though the Carrizo Gorge, with three passenger cars being restored. for futher in-

I never thought this line would be rebuilt. Hope they have a large maintenance-and-repair budget!
