After being closed down for about 30 years. Freight trains will be running again through the Carrizo Gorge. The Carrizo Gorge Railway will be running freight trains through the Carrizo Gorge. In 1976 tropical storm Kath- leen washed out much of the railroad line. A few years later there were fires in tunnels #8 and 16. Hopefully there will be passenger train excursions through the Carrizo Gorge. For futher information go to www.carrizo- gorgerailway.com.
