In an Italian book about WWII railroad engineers, I found mention of the British receiving in May 1942 some American locomotives. They are called identified as "65DE14 Whitcomb de la Rodelle", I think built in Detroit.

Could someone indicate whether this is the proper name, and if so what were the specifications of these locomotives, how many were built, where they were used, etc ?

Thanks in advance.

Whitcomb was a division of Baldwin Locomotive at
the time it built the the diesels in question. They
were made at their LaRochelle, Illinois plant.
See the WIKIPEDIA online article about
Whitcomb Diesel for information about the locos
ordered by War Department for use by U.S. Army
and allied governments.
Good-Luck, Peter Boylan
