Tomatoes are technically a fruit. I heard a rumor that a long time ago, the railroads in the United States considered tomatoes a vegetable in order to get a better rate when shipping them. Supposedly, that is why totmatoes are still sometimes considered a vegetable instead of a fruit.

Does anybody have any knowledge about this?

Thank You
Dean
