This is just a musing thinking, if they finally do get the UP Big Boy 4018 running.
Wouldn;t it be fastenating to see the UP challinger and the 4018 together running and being shown together at secail events.
After seeing the photo's Of the Challengwer here it would be great to see it's bigger sister the 4018 being photoed together.

are they still rebuilding the 4018 or what happened?havent heard anything on it for 10 months.

i agree i think if they do rebuild it they shoud put on a doubleheader (3985+4018)like they did with 3985 + 844.that would really be a show to see.i also think if they get it running it should go on a national tour

The restoration project is dead. In fact, it was never actually alive. The erstwhile movie producers in Dallas never succeeded in raising anywhere near the $2 million cash needed, and the Age of Steam Museum in Dallas won't release the Big Boy. The whole restoration matter now borders on being a hoax.

thats a shame.anyone think steamtown (if purswaded)would rebuild theirs for operation?
