I am working with a group of model railroaders to try to improve the accuracy of the smoke output in some gauges of toy train.

The problem is that nobody really knows the details of the actual pattern of the emissions from loco smoke stacks.

Is there , by chance , anyone in this forum who has knowledge on this issue - perhaps as the result of direct experience?
