I'm new to this forum but want to let everyone know that I plan to become a frequent contributor of this form. Model railroading is a passion with me and I am especially excited about my DCC layout. It is so much better than standard/old dc block layouts of yesteryear. I've tried installing decoders in HO locomotives and it's just too tedious. The first thing I would like to share with you all is that if you are in need of someone who installs decoders don't waste your time with the guys that advertise in the magazines--they are way too expensive. The guy I use does great work at a reasonable price. He can be contacted at the following:

Michael Dove
dccrailroader@msn.com

I have about a dozen locomotives with decoders installed in them and this guy has done ten of them.

I recall that this forum does in fact have a place for DCC topics so I guess I should have posted this under the DCC subject rather than the HO scale subject. I'll have to watch where I post in the future.

Welcome JM! It seems things are a little slow here at the present time, but I'm sure it will pick up again. Thanks for the info on the decoder installer.

I have started to install Z gauge decoders in some of my engines, because they allow more room. Putting in decoders is not too bad, just can rush the job.
