I am currently in the process of laying flex track on my HO layout. How does one assure that the ends of each rail are flush against the rails of the adjacent track? Around bends, I often end up with one track flush against the section of the adjacent track while the other rail has a noticeable gap between it and the adjacent rail. Hammering the other end of the track does not work. Any ideas?

Flex generally has one rail that slides and the other fixed. Put the fixed rail to the outside and let the inner one slip. That will give you a solid connection. Trim the long rail and lay the next piece.
However, I generally let the long rail slip into the next section. This keeps the joints from being exactly opposite. Makes for a better connection with less kinking..
