OK, the first peninnsula has been constructed (4 x 8 feet), although cross bracing still needs to be installed. Boy am I in the *** house though !! My wife came out to see the extension when it was done and said "that penninsula is a big as the entire HO layout was!! You can't put hat on rollers to move it out of the way!! We CAN'T park a car in here!!" Oops....busted !! I'm going to the hobby shop today to get some track and roadbed, and oh yeah, I'm taking her out for a nice dinner . Hope to finish the penninsula soon and begin the next!! Happy Modeling!! John

John, John, John, Tsk, tsk, tsk. Obviously (and since you once stated you had a four year old) you do not have the sagasity of years on your side to guide you through these troubled times. It's going to take more than a "nice dinner" to get you out of this one old buddy. You know those archeological sites that we layman read about in National Geographic where the dimembered men are buried tightly wraped with their dimembered members scattered about them? Think that was some sort of weird,pagan cerimony? Guess again, bucko! That's right my friend------Ancient hobbyists sent to their maker by irate, signifigant "others" unfettered by the morals of modern culture. Men who otherwise supplied meat and forage for their families, shelter for their young and shells and bones for their housmate to decorate with. Yes, these men who were otherwise devoted providers---undone by their quest for just a little more cave space just for the simple pleasure of increasing their whatever it was they were collecting area! And yet it is to these great hobby pioneers that we owe great thanks, for without their dedication and sacrifice we would not have been able to accumulate and refine the tactics necessary to achive our hobby goals, the generations- no- millenia of secret information past from male generation to male generation that is out there today. Next time ask, yes humble yourself before the generations who have come before you and you too can learn so much, and avoid these dire circumstances! And what is this knowledge you ask? How do I become one with the Railroad Right-of Way gods you ask? You must swear to secreacy on a solom oath but I shall now divulge them to you. It is simple. Complete absolute and unconditional humility and MONEY!!! Eat crow. Go shopping with her (you might look for that new car cover while your at it). Grovel, do dishes, grovel some more, then vacum, then grovel just a bit more. A terrible price to pay but it will be worth it in the end. Good luck Scott p.s. Great and sage advise Scott!! I believe that the Great Right-of-way gods have been looking out for me, for the very thing of which you speak came to me in an epiphany !! I did indeed take her for the nice dinner, and movie. Then, the next day I took her shopping and bought some VERY expensive Christmas presents early for her (so much for a new pair of Atlas RS-1's ). Suddenly, and with out provocation I was kissed, forgiven AND a brilliant conversation about how she was exited because I was exited about the new railroad took place !! I escaped this time, and with the advice given and a bit of luck, in 1,000 years they won't dig me up as a bundle of dimembered bones wrapped tightly in my member!! Happy Modeling!! John

Scott, Not only did I come smelling like roses, the next day she said how excited she was that I was so excited about the new layout . Then just yesterday, I caught her READING my Nscale magazine !! The second penninsula should be underway by this weekend, I'll let you guys know how its going. Happy Modeling!! John
