Well I have 2 Spectrum engines "GP30 and D8-40C" Both are OK, detail is fairly good. I bought them cause at the time I could find any of the same models in other brands.
They are so noisy, I relegate them to the display case.! Anyway have any secrets to making them more SILENT. Athearns are noisy enough, but if you put both in a consist, it blows me out of the room. I love Kato for the silent running, but can I get that out of the Spectrum?
Thanks

I know this won't answer your question...

I do know you can buy a Can motor retro kit for the Athearn.. I bought one for one of my SD40-2's it should quiet it down. you may be able to do the same for the Bachmann

I also heard of guys retro fitting a Kato Motor into other brands but don't know of any first hand.

I bought my retro kit and new Nickel wheels for my conversion Direct from NWSL
