I have a Locomotive wheel cleaning system that works well, thought I'd pass it along. Take the paper stemed type cotton swab and cut them in half with a bevel so that what you wind up with is two "short swabs" with a beveled point on the oposite side from the cotton end. The beveled end then makes a great non-abrasive "scrubber"for cleaning the electrical contact surfaces of the loco wheels. The swab "stick" is just the right hardness for this scrubbing job usuing your favorite wheel cleaning solution. Model on, Scott

Thanks Scott!! I'll give it a try as using Bright Boy on wheels is obviously hard on them. Been looking for a better way !! How are things on your layout these days? I know this is your busy season also... . Happy Modeling!! John

What about the old brass colored wire toothbrush?
ya stick the loco on it and as its powered, the wheels turn and clean themselves..

Try rubbing alcohol on paper towels. Wet towel & put on powered track. Place one truck on towel with flanges between rails. Ditto other truck on bare rails. Power track & hold engine while wheels turn on towel. If wheels real dirty move towel so clean spot on rails. Reverse trucks & clean other set. Works great & cheap>
