Hello out there. Hope someone can be of help. Where can you obtain templates for HO layout design? I seem to remember someone selling a stencil type. I'm limited by space and budget. (Who isnt!) Any on-line or printable source would be too cool. Thanks.

Raildawg, I believe Atlas makes a set of templates that are specific to their snam track system. These are good if your curve radii don't get ouside the 22" maximum. I making my own templates full size out of carboard. I use the old stick and pencil method to scribe the different turn radii, then cut them out and start putting them in place. Old appaliance boxes cut and flattened out can be carved into templates up to as large a radii as you need. Model on, Scott

I second what Scott just said . Also, if you have computer ability to run Railcad or similar program, I understand that you can design your entire rr with this program. Happy Modeling!! John

I have the Atlas templates and made copies of them for use on my layout. You are restricted to 22 inches. However, if you use the yardstick and pencil method you can get larger radius. I think I paid around $5.00 in total for my templates. If you need specialized templates you can order them from the NMRA. I think you can order them from their website.
