I am planning on modelling the PRR Indianapolis to Richmond Indiana. This was all double track with PRR Position signals. My question: Who makes the best looking PRR Position signals.? I have looked at ISS's signals, Oregon and so on.! Price isn't to much a concern, cause I want something that looks right and does a good job. Thanks

I really like the ISS system as a whole, I just haven't seen their signals.! I have Tomar on my current layout, but they only guard a interlocking. I like Tomar, but I want PRR Position signals.

I Like the ones that also hang over the road. Here let me try to draw it out
Ignore the piriods, those are just to make the pic work right. Not perfect but you will get the idea of what it looks like.

Throttle_JCKY: Have you ever seen the layout book, from Kalmbach Publishing: "The Pennsy Middle Division In HO Scale"? The layout is by, Dave Frary. In it, he uses some, VERY NICE, signals!!! I went back to my library, to pull this book out, to see if there was any mention of, brand-name, signals he used on this layout. Unfortunately, there is no mention of where, Dave Frary, got these signals. I'll bet if you were to contact, Model Railroader Magazine, they would be able to give you that information. Maybe, you could get an, e-mail address for Dave, and contact him, yourself. "The Pennsy Middle Division In HO Scale", is a wonderful example of, Dave Frary's work!!! Call, Kalmbach and request this book, or better yet, you can try e-mailing them at: customerservice@kalmbach.com I really think it would be worth your time. Richard

Richard, Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about. There is mention of the signals in on the the series. I think they were NJ International. I made the special trip 200 miles to see the layout when it was in Columbus a few years ago (right after he completed it.!) and I was disapointed to see it.! They had let everyone touch it and it was a mess. The signals weren't on it, so I didn't get to see them close up.! I might try contacting Kalmbach.! I also thought about ordering the kit from ISS and seeing what it looked like.!

Throttle_JCKY; I have seen the PRR signals from ISS and they are probably the best looking ones on the market. As a former Opr, and train disp. on the PRR, signals are one of my favorite aspects of RRing. I too use Tomar sigs on my GT&I to protect an interlocking. But the RR that crosses is the N&W, so I use the Verticle-head sigs. This a manual interlocking, as like the prototype, so the sig only displays a "Rule 292" "Stop" or a "Rule 281" "Clear" which means proceed throught the interlocking. With a manual interlocking, the "Clear" does not drop when the train passes the sig, but has to be reset by the "Opr" in the tower back to block, or "Stop" position. Thesig's do add enought visual interest to keep me happy. gtirr

GTIRR, I have to chuckle, One of the lines that I run on, has a "Manual Interlocking" with Conrail (now CSX), but there isn't an operator to reset it. It is within yard limits on the side of a grade for us. No fun.!
I will have to give ISS a call. Do they have a website.? Thanks for the info guys.
