I realize that this may have been asked before but...

Does anyone have, or know where I can get info on SP's MK5000C's and Amtrak's F69PH's. Any photo's, links, books, articles, etc. would be well appriciated!

As well, has anyone tried setting up DCC on an HO traction layout?

A good place to get info on SP's MK5000Cs are from a book called "SP Motive Power Annual 1995" by Four Ways West publications.
