I have heard over the years several people refer to something called the Time saver switching layout. I gather it was a complicated industrial switching plan designed to make an engineer think about and plan his movements as he dropped off and picked up cars. Does anyone know where I could find a diagram or drawing of this plan?
Thanks
JB

This was orriginally designed by John Allen and the plan and article appeared in the 1972 MR.

If you can provide a fax number, I can send a copy of the John Allen Switching Contest form, that includes the layout of the challenge. However, you should also look up the rules for proper operation.

Regards

JMH,

Hey that would be great! My fax number is 904-630-4959..

I'll have to see if I can find a copy of that MR somewhere.

Thanks again
JB

Try this URL:
http://www.trainweb.org/dsrg/operation.htm

Did a search thru my browser on "John Allen Time Saver" & came up w/ a bunch of hits. This URL has 3-4 track plans for John's time saver.

I know I have seen this drawing in a few places. I could not find it looking through some recent sites. The internet should be used as effectively as possible. I have a copy from 1975, which I faxed. I also will look in line. Thanks for the input.
