Can anyone suggest a good, basic reference(s) by which to determine rolling stock appropriate to the year 1900?

I think there is a car and locomotive Cyclopeida. But I dont know much about it, sorry .Mike

Check the search page on Ebay. They currently have several "Train Cyclopedia's" up for auction. I just looked and found 8 or so listed. They go for $10 to $20.
