I've been away for a long time, but now I moved into a new house, and I got the whole basement all to myself!!! Now I am gonna start on my railroad. My parents still want to use the basement for something else, so I gotta save space... my idea is: to have a huge city + station in one corner of the basement, and from there, have tracks running around the walls (on small self-made shelves) with some small cities and stations in the corners. Its kinda hard to explain... but anyway, do you guys have any tips? This is my first time, and I am gonna try my best!

Anton,
Welcome back! It's great to have an empty space to plan in. Your around the wall Idea sounds great. Why don't you pick up some track planning books from the local hobby shop, or check out the library-you'ld be suprised somteimes they have a pretty good selection. Another source can be used book stores. RR magazines are good sources for track plans too.
Also contact the National Model Railroad Association www.nmra.org.
Good Luck,
Scott
