Anybody have any info or links on building good, chuffing smoke-generation units for HO or O, or ANY scale, steam engines? I want to install them on existing engines that I have. A good design principle could be used on diesels too. I have some ideas but any existing types could help. I want small size and ample smoke delivery capabilities. Thanks, Paul Hillman

I am assuming that you are modeling HO scale- the only chuffing smoke units that come to mind were made by Tyco some years back, in a rediculously cheap Mikado with all of the drive setup in the tender, pushing the locomotive. An interesting effect to have would be to have dual smoke units, with one on creating light smoke at low speeds, and both on creating heavy smoke at high speeds/loads. I do wish that it was easier to put a smoke unit in a diesel. People often forget that these "clean" engines produce smoke that can challenge a steamer.

Hi Paul, Model Power make the smoke units, I bought three the other week to put into my structurs so the chimney's could puff smoke.

Seuthe also makes smoke generators. Too bad no one has found a way to put a Ford motor in a smokebox, Those things always blew black smoke .....Mike

Hey mike- I have a Ford 300 6-cylinder in a Mazda pickup- the only smoke there is from the tires. Try adjusting your carbureutor.
