I am in the process of drawing up specifications for a Car Activity Reporting System that will locate cars, and set up a computer generated forwarding system. so far, it will be for from 1 to 26 yards, 99 sidings from each local (east, west, north, south) from a yard, up to 10 industries on a siding, up to 10 branch lines from each yard, up to 10 off road connections from each yard, variable number of days to stay at each industry, up to 10 car types LOADED, and up to 10 car types EMPTY for each industry.
It will produce switch lists, and/or locator list for all cars.
Any suggestions for what I may have left out?
Tom

That sounds like an excellent idea. That is the type of stuff I love about model railroading.

One suggestion may be to include what is in each car. I don't use a computer system. I use a manual system with index cards. I do keep track of what my cars are hauling.

Good Luck with your system.
