Is there an advantage to eithor size N Ho if I plan a 4 by 8 sheet of ply wood?

With a size of 4x8 it would seem that N scale would be best,but you can also have an HO layout with maybe a simple loop and one or 2 turnouts.You first have to find out what type of railroad you would like to run mainly, and what era you would like as well. I personally dont like N scale because they are just so tiny. It is very hard to detail them and they are in many cases the same price as HO. Whenever you begin to get more ideas or figure out what roadname you want to model write,back and i will try to help as much as possible. Stephen-

It depends what you want to do. HO is more popular than N. If you are looking more into details and scenery, then HO might be the best for you. If you want a lot of track and to be able to run long trains, then N might be better.
Since N scale is almost 1/2 the size as HO, you can fit almost four times as much track into the same area as HO.

I have not done the math #'s on this, but if you go HO on a 4 X 8 board, you may have difficulity installing 22" or larger curve radius track. Normally, one may install a straight track section between the curves, or a re-railer, (same size) Todays larger HO model locos may require 22" radius and the new Walthers Budd Passenger cars require 24"
You get better operating performance with the larger radius.

If you want to build railroad models, choose HO, if you want to build a model railroad, choose N............
