What is the length difference between O-27, O-31, O-54, and O-72 freight cars / locomotives?

As the former curator of the City of Rochester NY's Model Train Rool (Built in 1950 by Lionel for the city's Police Atheletic League) the number after the O is the diameret of a circle of track to the outside of the ties. Smaller equipment will work on any of them. However, using scale lenght cars and loco's will require the larger curves. (Some scale type equipment will require even larger, any you would have to use something like gargraves track & bend the curver yourself. Have fun & Keep on railroading. Tom
