Has there ever been a smoke fluid that would burn a dark color. I've only seen clear and white. Normally steam engines smoke is black. Why hasn't any company tried to produce black smoke? Problems with toxins/pollutants? I don't know if it would be too good on a traditional indoor layout. But I would like black smoke for my large scale outdoor layout. Any comments/suggestions?

Black smoke comes from burning coal, white smoke comes from burning wood.............just tell em you're burning wood. Seriously, its a great idea maybe some day it will come to be.

maybe a drop of motor oil mixed in with the smoke liquid? you know, possibly 1/20 mixture , 1/30, etc. if that does work, it might help with weathering effects, as well. This is just a casual guess, you might check with someone who would know what effect that would have on the smoke unit before trying this.
