I need some help in Decoder installation. I have some Atlas GP-40 Locomotives, Proto 2K GP-60 Locomotives and some Athearn Genesis SD-75I Locomotives that I want to install decoders in. I have some of the now discontinued Lenz 103, 104 and 105 decoders that I would like to install into these locomotives. I'm also looking at purchasing some Lenz 1024 decoders as well.

My question is will these decoders go into all the these locomotives or are there problems of incompatibility with respect to size of the decoder and available room inside the locomotive. Since I already own the locomotives and the decoders I would really like to not have to purchase anything else.

Thanks,

I can't really help You with the Lenz decoders. I guess You just have to open the loco's and check foor room. But if You're looking for some more decoders, as You mentioned, I could suggest You use Zimo decoders. Not only are they incredibely small they are also full featured decoders, NMRA compatible and called by many users "the smoothest running decoder there is".
You can check them out here: http://www.mrsonline.net/

good luck!
