I just got a used 2-6-4 Lionel smoker. First smoker I've ever had. It's older, but I'm not sure of the age. How do I tell if I should use the smoke pills or the liquid? When I look down the stack I see the fine wires that heat. Some smoke still comes out, I assume from residue still in the unit. Thanks! ---------By the way, I just read a note on ebay where someone said that Lionel moved to China. Anyone know if that's true?

Either liquid or pill will work. I have found thatlamp oil (at about $3.50 per quart) will work almost as good as either, and is a lot cheaper. Just use an eye dropper to put it in - 2 - 3 drops at a time and dont put in more until it stops smoking.
