Hi Shane,

to store my cars, I just use the box the kit came in. I have them organized on shelvs so the lable of each box is facing out. On equipment for which I no longer have the box, I have put them in a Valveeta Cheese Box with a lable made up for the Manufacturor, the description, the roadname and the item number to identify it. I also put the road number on as well.

Well this is my tip for the day.

James

Thanks for the tip, Challenger. I'll now look forward to going to the grocery store, and I'll start saving a Velveeta box or two. I'm not quite sure how I'll fit a 4-8-4+4-8-4 garratt into that sort of box, but I'm sure I can figure out something.

Hi CG.

I kind of made the Valveeta Cheese box dicovery by accident. I had to move some loose cars around on my layout and mom had some old valveeta cheese boxes from cheese that she had just put into a big batch of Chili or something. (It was during a big family get together and practacly had to feed an army and my layout was experienceing a traffic rush so to speak ) so I took them and they worked so well that I keept using the techniqe.

As for your Garrate, I have yet to get something that is that big. But I am sure one could cut the boxes so that when two pieces are put together that the length is sufficient for what is needed. Then they can be spliced together with heavy masking tape. The same process can be repeated for the lid, or folded from poster board for better structural integrity. I also have some Foam Core on hand that I could make boxes of the appropriet size if it came up.

Well thanks all for the interest.

James.

Challenger I think that is a good idea! I have been using shoe boxes, however, I am getting out my supply into full swing, so hopefully, I will not need to store any.

Great Tip!

Thanks

Darin
