did CN ever run any U-23, U-25, U-28, or U-30's. and if they did what paint scheme did they use.

Sorry I can't answer your questions, but I have one of my own. Who were these locomotives made by? I can't visualize any of these at all, I'm not sure if I have ever heard of them. You have me all curious now. If they were used by CN, then I may want to get some for myself!

Those were the early G.E. road diesels that spelled the end for Alco. I think Athearn makes models of most of them. I think Atlas makes the U23b which was the smallest. They are what have collectively been called "U-Boats." The four axle versions would have their designation end in "b" as in U23b. A six axle version would have the designation end in "C" as in a U30c. The number designates horsepower in hundreds. G.E. has continued with a similar designation except they have dropped the "U" and went first to
-7, later -8 as in a -840b, or more frequently spelled out "Dash8 40b."
