I need some debugging hints on a problem I believe I am having with an MTH O-guage scale left-hand switch. There does not appear to be any power on the other side of the switch. Are there standard procedures for diagnosing such problems, if doing an OHM test where should I probe to check this out? The train is not the culprit here..
Also, notice that some rails OHM (those where a RH/LH switch are connected in series) read in the 1,000+ OHM range if simply probing the adjoining rails. Is that considered out of spec? Most rails are .000-.002 or essentially no resistance.

The easiest way I have found is to run wiring under the layout to different areas around the track and solder it to the underside of the track. Especially switches. I have found a lot of power tends to be lost because of the switch mechanism.
Try a test area by jumping a wire on the outside of the track and see if this solves the problem. More times than not, it is because the connection is not clean or just barely touching when in the switched position, so the current has to jump to the switch rail.
