Hey everyone, Im pretty new to building prototypical layouts. im in the process of building an O Gauge railroad based off the Duluth-Misabee-Iron Range and Canadian National lines seen in Northern minnesota. I'm pretty young entering this hobby at 18, but I recently paid a visit to Minnesota and I pretty much stopped to see every train i could as i entered the iron range there. Anyways, as a kid i'd always been fasinated by trains, and that disappeared suddenly but nows it resurfaced and im obsessed again, my friends think im wierd lol. Anyways, after building a 6'x10 expansion to my existing tables ive started to draw out my plans. It has a main line and then a parallel secondary track with cross-overs to the main line. What i've always been confused with is how to distribute power evenly around the entire track, when i was a kid i'd gather up all the track I could and I remember having "black spots" where the eletricity couldnt continue. Do i need boosters or a bigger transformer. I also want to run 2 trains at a time, i'm not sure thats possible. I think DCC is a little too challenging for me to begin with, i'm not sure what any of that means really. I'm also not sure where to begin with, all my trains run on 3-rail tracks, is there a better company to by track from other than lionel which will offer me more options. I'm not interested in the fastrack that i've seen lionel has come out with in 2003, the crossings look fake and the ballast looks artificial and I think that will limit my ability to make the layout look somewhat realistic. Any information to what and how I should do would be greatly appreciated, i'm having trouble aquiring information on the internet, and with gas prices increasing, i can not afford to make the 30 minute trip to the Eletric Train shop every day to get information. if theres any information i left out, please feel free to tell me and I will expand on my thoughts.
